1. “After the Cold War, capitalism and government control became more rigid. In order to decrease the control of governments which had made opportunities for the working class scarce; anarchists fought against his control. Interestingly enough, anarchists were the primary reason for multiple murders and vicious attacks even though most claimed to be non-violent. It was until 1948 when Israeli was declared independent, that terrorism rose in the USA. With displacing the Arabs and trying to end Jewish nation of Israeli, it was becoming more apparent that there would be foreign attacks. Al-Qaeda, which became one of the USA’s worst terrorist enemies, was formed in Afanstagain. Believe it or not, but the US had initially trained this group of people to go against the Soviet troops. Even though the US had power over this group, al-Qaddafi had turned on the US. In the 1980’s Arabs attack the US for their involvement with the Israelis troops. This was the beginning of multiple attacks that the US had ensues An example of how these religious Isalamic terrorist turned against the USA was the infamous 9/11. With more than 2,000 deaths and 25,000 injuries, the USA increasingly became more strict with who they allow in the country as well as severed all ties.
The USA became very divided as the result of stricter regulations. As a result of stricter regulations, the Internet became widely accessible and more popular. After the 9/11 attack, the internet was filled with conspiracy theories of if it was a government attack or if there was some USA involvement. Therefore, this made a significant impact in political agendas. The internet was not the main reason for the USA becoming politically divided, but the economic struggles that were increasing. The cost of living was higher, and even though racism discrimination was illegal, in the 1980’s, it became more problematic as more cost of living became higher and people of color weren’t given the same opportunities to earn more income to maintain a comfortable lifestyle. Discrimination and racisms has been increasingly high since then which lead to even more of a divided nation. ”
2. “After the Cold War, anarchists fought against the control of the increasingly rigid government. Many of these anarchists can be found as the catalyst for vicious attacks and murders. In 1948, Israel declared its independence, causing a rise in terrorism in the United States. On September 11, 2001, four planes were hijacked by terrorists. Two were flown into the World Trade Center in lower Manhattan, one was flown into the Pentagon, and one was crashed in a field in Pennsylvania. These hijackers belonged to Al Qaeda, an international terrorist group led by Osama bin Laden. This attack was organized to communicate the fury regarding western culture’s spread throughout the Muslim world. The opposition to the Persian Gulf War in 1991 and the American troops stationed in Saudi Arabia was also made clear through the 9/11 terrorist attack. The 2001 recession was only made worse by the 9/11 attacks. While the GDP recovered relatively quickly, employment did not follow suit. After 9/11, the United States, along with Britain and support from NATO, started bombing Afghanistan in a war against terrorism. By the end of 2006, over 3000 soldiers had been killed and another 20000 wounded in the war in Iraq, and the war had cost 200 billion USD.
After 9/11, anti-immigrant ideas expanded. Citizens appearing middle eastern or practicing Islam were less trusted for fear of terrorism. The US Patriot Act allowed for wiretapping and spying on Americans to try to stop terrorism on American soil. Over 1000 Arabs and Muslims were arrested and denied their rights, later to be found to have no links to terrorism. Guantanamo Bay held a prison camp of accused terrorists in Cuba. Though congress made torture illegal, “enhanced interrogation techniques” were allowed even though some of these techniques, like waterboarding, are considered torture in many other countries around the world. “
