In this task, you will identify a gap in a nursing education program in an academic setting that leaves nurses unprepared to complete a duty in the workplace. You will use the gap you identified to propose a solution for changing the curriculum that addresses the gap in the nursing education program in an academic setting. This solution should be designed for future nurses or nursing students.

Your proposed solution will not require you to conduct primary research but should use scholarly, peer-reviewed sources to support the proposed nursing education program improvement. As a result, this project will not require Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval. However, you will be required to conduct a comprehensive literature review of the primary, peer-reviewed studies you will use to identify best practices in support of your proposed solution.

REQUIREMENTS
Your submission must be your original work. No more than a combined total of 30% of the submission and no more than a 10% match to any one individual source can be directly quoted or closely paraphrased from sources, even if cited correctly. An originality report is provided when you submit your task that can be used as a guide.

You must use the rubric to direct the creation of your submission because it provides detailed criteria that will be used to evaluate your work. Each requirement below may be evaluated by more than one rubric aspect. The rubric aspect titles may contain hyperlinks to relevant portions of the course.

EVALUATION REPORT — ATTEMPT 1 — REVISION NEEDED

EVALUATOR COMMENTS
Professional Communication (Articulation) — This submission describing a knowledge gap is supported by clear, accurate word choices that add variety and credibility to the writing. Recurring errors in sentence fluency, conventions, and parts of speech limit the clarity of the writing and prevent demonstration of competency in Professional Communication. Noted concerns include unclear phrasing, punctuation mistakes, article errors, subject-verb disagreements, usage concerns, and incorrect verb forms.

Please review the attached markup document for details regarding the writing errors identified. Additional information regarding the Professional Communication evaluation can be found here: Professional Communication Feedback.

Content — The submission clearly provides the capstone proposal focused on creating simulation to address the lack of knowledge related to the early detection of sepsis and the differentiation between the early and late signs of sepsis for nursing students at the identified academic institution. The application of Lewin’s change theory to the implementation process is identified to assist with faculty resistance. The plan is to implement simulation into the Nursing Fundamentals class. What is not found are completed Organizational Approval and Preceptor Agreement Letters, a literature review that synthesizes the information from the literature, and a plan of action and timeline of a detailed overview of the milestones. Deviations in APA style for sources is noted.

What is not found is a detailed overview of the milestones in the proposed implementation plan and a realistic timeline.
