Choose a current event that has occurred within the last two weeks (July. 15 – July 20th) Then, write an analytical, sociological paper based on that event. You may *NOT* choose any topic that has been discussed in the DISCUSSION. You will be required to cite. sociological sources, class lectures, and textbook (or required sociological reading)!
Individual Analysis Papers (3 ~ 5 pages with source citations, APA style), typed, double-spaced, 12-font Times. You may go over 5 pages. 3-5 pages for this extra credit assignment does *not* include title page or works cited page. There should be a minimum of 3 pages of content.
Apply the sociological imagination and at least one paradigm discussed in this class (from the readings) Sociology 4. Incorporate Discuss how the difference between “stereotypes” and “social patterns” are being employed in this current event. What does this occurrence tell us about society? Your paper should consider what groups are part of this current affair. What informs their perspectives and provide some sociohistorical context from which to understand this event. And if a research project based on this social reality or current event were to be done, what would the hypothesis be? How would you conceptualize and operationalize the variables? What would be an effective methodology?
