Critical/Analytical Essay

After reading the novel (attached in the updated files), please come out with an essay question/topic and answer it with a thesis, including three strong supporting details/arguments. Just a reminder that the supporting details are NOT examples, only arguments. The examples will be included in the paragraphs. I will show my instructor the question and thesis as she needs to approve it before embarking on the essay. The topic question should start with: “What idea(s) does the author develop about…” The detailed topics are uploaded. Kindly read those and pick the most simple topic. Upon my instructor’s approval, the essay can be started. Could I kindly request that the essay format in the uploaded file be followed? The intro begins with a preamble of the topic general terms, followed by the thesis and the 3 arguments which illustrate the thesis. At least TWO literacy devices that explain the arguments need to be introduced in the intro. Finally, there should be a transition sentence leading into the first body paragraph. Body paragraphs should explain the intro’s arguments, and each paragraph should have as many quotes as possible from the novel. It is okay to have up to 20 quotes in the essay, just make sure they are not used to summarize the book. The quotes do not all have to be a full sentence, it could simply be a few words at times. On top of this, each body paragraph should include a reference to at least one literary device. Please include a transition sentence at the end of each paragraph that will lead to the next topic. Please use consistent verb tenses (I think past tense would be best), avoid contractions and words such as: big, got, things, stuff, nice, etc. Also, feel free to use more words if necessary.  Examples of thesis: Question: “What idea does the text creator express regarding the influence of dreams, goals or ideals in individual lives?” Thesis: “In Death of a Salesman, Arthur Miller conveys the idea that unattained dreams, goals or ideals have adverse effects on individuals, as they are forced to face a reality they do not find fulfilling.” Question: “What idea does the text creator express regarding choices?” Thesis: “Through the short story “A Pair of Silk Stockings,” Kate Chopin expresses the idea that while the mind might choose to act selfishly, ones morals and values would ultimately result in feelings of guilt and regret.” Question: “What idea does the text creator express regarding the individual in the face of threatening forces?” Thesis: “Through the novel Night, the author expresses the idea that one may abandon their morals and act selfishly in the face of threatening forces, as it is an instinct for human beings to act from egoistic motives.” Question: “What idea does the text creator express regarding individual choices?” Thesis: “In Death of a Salesman, Arthur Miller conveys the idea that an individual’s short-sighted choices can have long-lasting consequences, pre-determinibcqng the future of their descendants.”
