The goal is for the student to develop an area of inquiry in response to the course’s thematic focus on global problems, skillfully pursue that inquiry, and then create an argument that attempts to solve the problem by finding common ground.

Requirements:

The final paper will be a minimum of 8-10 pages not counting the Abstract or References page.

The paper will adhere to the rules of academic writing (no use of first or second person, no contractions, formal language)

The paper will include a minimum of 10 sources. Make sure that at least 8 of these are from academic journals. I suggest making the Rose State Online Databases your focus.

Failure to meet minimums results in a substantial deduction, as with all papers this semester.

Assignment Steps:

This assignment is a multi-step process that includes many components.

1. Submit a research proposal

2. Submit three separate bibliographies that include 5 sources each (one for the background, one for the two sides, and one for solutions).

3. Submit a final bibliography the includes 10 sources. As you can see, you’ve narrowed down your sources to the best ones. Make sure this bibliography is perfectly formatted.

4. Draft and submit a rough draft of the Introduction and Side A.

5. Revise according to your professor’s suggestions.

6. Draft and submit a rough draft of Side B and the Common Ground section.

7. Revise according to your professor’s suggestions.

8. Draft and submit a rough draft of the Solutions and the Conclusion.

9. Revise according to your professor’s suggestions.
