The Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report, known as the MMWR for short, is a weekly scientific publication prepared and published by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. It is often referred to as “the voice of the CDC”. It contains data and reports on health and safety topics, especially the topics of relevance at the time. The MMWR series is the CDC’s primary voice for scientific publication of timely, reliable, authoritative, accurate, objective, and useful public health information and recommendations. The readers are predominantly physicians, nurses, public health practitioners, epidemiologists and other scientists, researchers, educators, and laboratorians as this is vital to their work (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2020).
