What to do…
Go to your WordPress login page and login to your account.
Create a folder named ISM3054C-Milestone7 on your local drive. Create the following sub-folders in this folder:
Plugins
Users
Using the Plugins → Installed Plugins option, find at least 5 different plugins that could be applicable to your WordPress site. For each plugin:
WordPress has standard widgets and themes which provide places for widgets to be added. Many plugins install additional widgets that are not in the WordPress Core system. Before you start installing plugins, make a note of the widgets that are available. After installing a plugin, check to see what additional widgets are available as those are the widgets that are added by the plugin.
Preview, install and activate the plugin.
Use the plugin as intended by the plugin creator in your WordPress site.
View and take a screenshot of the WordPress Dashboard/Posts/Pages/Etc. page visited to make use of the plugin. Save the screenshot into the Plugins sub-folder of ISM3054C-Milestone7. The filename of the screenshot must be the name of the plugin.
Include at least 2 widgets in each of the sidebars provided by the plugin using the Appearance → Widgets link.
Ensure that all the sidebars are expanded to show the widgets in the sidebar. View and take a screenshot of the Appearance → Widgets page. Save the screenshot into the Widgets sub-folder of ISM3054C-Milestone7. The filename of the screenshot must be the name of the plugin followed by the word Widgets.
Create a post where the plugin name is the title of the post and the post is linked to category Plugins.
Include an explanation of what the plugin does and a link to either a web page maintained by the author of the plugin where it can be downloaded or to the plugin page on wordpress.org.
List at least 3 pros and 3 cons of the plugin in the post. Include your opinion of the plugin in the post. Indicate your rating of the plugin by adding a tag to the post where the rating is one of the following:
Activated
Recommended
Rejected
View and take a screenshot of the post for the plugin. Save the screenshot into the plugins sub-folder of ISM3054C-Milestone7. The filename of the screenshot must be the name of the plugin followed by the word Pros&Cons.
Activate the plugin(s) that you decide is/are the most appropriate for your WordPress site.
Delete any plugins that are not activated.
Take a screenshot of the Appearance → Plugins page. Save the screenshot into the Plugins sub-folder of ISM3054C-Milestone7. The filename of the screenshot must contain your name followed by the word ActivePlugin.
Create a menu named Plugins that contains each of the posts. Use the menu in a Custom Menu widget. Ensure that the Custom Menu widget is shown on the home page of your WordPress site.
View and take a screenshot of the home page of your WordPress site ensuring that the Plugins Custom Menu is visible. Save the screenshot into the Plugns sub-folder of ISM3054C-Milestone7. The filename of the screenshot must contain your name followed by the word HomePage.
Using the Users → Add New option, create a different user for each of the following WordPress roles:
Subscriber
Contributor
Author
Editor
Administrator
Create a text file named users.txt in the Users sub-folder of ISM3054C-Milestone7. In the text file, document the Role, Username and Password for each user created.
Create a post with a title of User Roles. For each role above, indicate if the role is applicable for your WordPress site. Include the reasoning for your decision in the post.
Add the post to the Plugins custom menu.
View and take a screenshot of the post listing the roles in WordPress. Save the screenshot into the Users sub-folder of ISM3054C-Milestone7. The filename of the screenshot must contain your name followed by the word Roles.
In the WordPress Dashboard, hover over All-in-One WP Migration and select Export.
Expand Export To.
Click File.
Once the export is complete, a Download button will show. Click the button.
A file (ending in .wpress) will be downloaded. Move the downloaded file to the folder named ISM3054C-Milestone7.
View and take a screenshot of the Dashboard → Home page. Save the screenshot into the ISM3054C-Milestone7 folder. The filename of the screenshot must contain your name followed by the word Dashboard.
Complete the remaining videos of the LinkedIn Learning WordPress Essential Training tutorial and save the downloaded completion certificate in the ISM3054C-Milestone7 folder.
