This week, I want you to try your hand at producing a small, polished essay, with a small works cited page, just to keep you in the mode of thinking about argumentation and staying engaged with writing.
I want to introduce a somewhat controversial topic this week, in hopes that I’ll get some varied and interesting opinions and arguments. First, please review the first episode of the docuseries College Behind Bars (https://www.pbs.org/video/college-behind-bars-part-1-no-one-ever-taught-me-any-of-that/). After you have reviewed it, head over to the Essay Assignments on Blackboard, and you’ll find the instructions for your micro-essay. I am inviting you to provide more of your opinion this week, but use another source to lean on and make your case about some of the questions I have posted.
Please review the following film:
College Behind Bars (https://www.pbs.org/video/college-behind-bars-part-1-no-one-ever-taught-me-any-of-that/).
After reviewing it compose a minimum 2 page maximum 3 page essay that provides an informed opinion and answers one, some or all of the following questions:
1. Should college and/or high school education be made free to inmates?
2. Is it fair to individuals who pay for college for inmates to get the same for free?
3. Is an educated person is less of a drain or threat to society?
You should find ONE other source and provide a citation page that includes this film, and the source you use to aid you in making your argument. Of course, try to use as many of the lessons and writing tips as possible.
