What is cannabis? What effect(s) does cannabis have on behavior (cognitive, emotional, psychomotor speed, to name a few)? What is the evidence for or against cannabis use? What are the short and long-term effects of cannabis use?
“Let food be thy medicine”: The impact of dietary intake on brain health
What is meant by dietary or nutrient intake? Why might this be relevant for brain health? What is the evidence that diet influences brain and behavior?
Biological sex and sexual orientation: Nature or Nurture?
Which hormones are implicated in sexual development and how are they implicated? Discuss cases of sexual development beyond the common dichotomous lens of male/female. What are the physical and behavioral outcomes of variations in biological sex? Is sexual orientation biologically determined or learned? What is the evidence?
The role of stress in major depressive disorder
What is depression? What are the neural correlates of depression? What is stress and how does stress impact the brain? What is the evidence linking stress with depression?
Post-traumatic stress disorder
What is post-traumatic stress disorder and what are its symptoms? What brain areas might be involved in PTSD? How is the stress system (e.g., HPA axis) affected in individuals with PTSD? What treatments are available for PTSD and how do they change the underlying brain and biological causes?
The neurobiology of schizophrenia
What is schizophrenia and what are its symptoms? How might this disorder affect daily functioning? What brain areas might be involved in schizophrenia? What are the central biological theories of schizophrenia? How can one explain the positive, negative and cognitive symptoms?

Term Paper Guidelines
Formatting:
Page limit: 7 double-spaced pages (not including title page or references).
Use Times New Roman size 12 font. Margins should be 1″ on all sides of your document.
You must format your paper according to APA 7th Edition.
You must include a Reference section.
You do not need an Abstract page.
Citations and Choice of References:
20-25 references.
ALL references must come from peer-reviewed, scientific sources. You may also use government sites, such as Statistics Canada or the World Health Organization, to reference prevalence or incidence of disease (or other population-based statistics).
Writing style:
Do not use quotes.
Avoid colloquial language and phrasing. A common error is to write how we speak.
