{{Artifact Proposal Guidelines:}}
1.Choose an artifact. The first step is to choose an artifact or a genre of artifacts. Please follow the guidelines from the analysis papers. The artifact can be any rhetorical situation such as a speech, text, film, or video clip. The artifact must be archived and public. This means I should be able to easily locate and view/listen to the artifact.
A. First, introduce the artifact. What is it? Who is in it? What is the purpose? (1 page)
You might need to provide extra details that were not presented in analysis papers.
B. Second, describe the importance of the artifact. Why is this artifact worth writing about? What is the significance? (1/2-1 page)
C. Please attach or include a way for me to access the artifact. This might be a link or a body of text. This should be in a separate document OR it can be pasted in the comment section of your Canvas submission.
D. Total page length: 1 ½ -2 pages
{{Method Proposal Guidelines}}
1. Choose a rhetorical criticism method. The second step is to choose an appropriate rhetorical criticism method from our textbook. You can choose any method [Traditional Criticism, Narrative Criticism ,Dramatism and Pentadic CriticismFantasy-Theme Criticism] , even a method we did not cover in class (e.g., feminist criticism). Please keep your choice to one method.
A. First, introduce the rhetorical criticism method. Think of this section as a brief overview of the method so that I can assess your understanding and use of it. You will use the textbook and lectures for this section.(1-1 ½ pages)
In your description of the method, you should address the purpose of the method and the reasons why the method is effective.
B. Second, you should describe why this method is useful for the artifact you chose. Why does this method work well in assessing the artifact? You will use your own argument, the textbook, and one additional outside source that supports your chosen method. (1-1 ½ pages)
The outside source can be a peer-reviewed article that uses your method. You should write about how the article uses this method in order to gain insight into the artifact. Tip: Each chapter in our book provides a references list for further reading. You can locate these readings at our library/online.
C. Third, you should also present a clear research question concerning the artifact or genre. I will help you with this step in the video below.
