Compare and contrast the two neighborhoods. Discuss key differences for youth in your neighborhood and the classmate’s neighborhood and compare advantages/disadvantages.
2. Explain what you think are the most important factors to consider when analyzing the impact a neighborhood can have on the development on a young person and their family living there? Give clear examples why those factors matter and the consequences. Refer to class readings, discussions, etc.
3. Think about the impact of covid-19 on young people. What are the direct and indirect consequences? In NY, schools, parks , community centers, etc. are closed and families are largely restricted to their homes. What are the effects on children’s education, social life and physical and mental health? How might these disruptions look differently when considering the socio-economic statuses of neighborhoods? Who will be more adversely affected? Think about your neighborhood of study; how might the families living there fare? What are some of the likely impacts of covid-19 on those youth and their families? Describe your experience in the neighborhood you live in. How is information relayed? Are you being informed on where to locate necessary resources? If you have young people living with you, what is their experience like? Cite your sources.
