This short reflective paper is your project assignment for Lifespan Development. It should be about 1250 words (no less than 1200 and no more than 1300). Papers with word counts less than the minimum will be penalized with a lower grade. This assignment counts significantly toward your course grade. (See syllabus).

Through out the semester we have learned about the different periods in the lifespan: infancy; early childhood; middle childhood; adolescence; early adulthood; middle adulthood; or late adulthood. Select one of these periods that you believe is relevant to your future career or one that you simply developed an interest, perhaps because of some intriguing developmental features or controversies that occur in that period.
Answer the following reflective questions about the period you selected.
1. Clearly state what age period did you chose? Why did you choose it? Explain how the chosen age period relates to your future career or why this particular period is of interest. For example, do you plan to teach children? Will you be working with senior citizens? Will you be interacting primarily with a specific age group on the job? Have you had prior experience working with this age group? What did you learn from the course that supplemented knowledge gained from prior experience? Explain why you chose this period over the other six possible periods.
2. In your own words, describe what you see as the most important features (physical, cognitive, and social/emotional) of that age period. What do you see as particular strengths and weaknesses of this age period? Explain why and provide evidence to support your position.
3. Consider the features you described in Question 2 above. How much do you believe these features are genuinely developmental (nature), or environmental (nurture) or a combination? Explain and provide evidence to support your position.
4. Explain how this age period was influenced by the previous period and how it affects the next period. Clearly identify which stages come before and after the one you selected. In other words, what are the common threads linking the chosen period to the one before and after? What are the most important influences? Demonstrate the continuity of development for the selected features of the chosen period.
The paper should include at least three external sources besides the textbook. The sources can be articles and/or videos available from the internet or can be print sources such as books or journal articles. The sources must be credible, academic sources and must be recent (published within the past 5 years). All sources, including the textbook, must be properly quoted and cited in the body of the paper and listed in a separate bibliography (works cited page not included in the word count).
