Directions: Really look over each question carefully before you begin. Be sure to answer each part of the question(s). This will be the basic criteria I will be using when grading these. As for the assignments themselves, I would like these typed. (12 pt. TNR; double spaced) There are no set page limits, simply answer the questions to the best of your ability. Considering that this exam is open note/book, I will be looking for & expecting plenty of detail (direct examples from the text, core concepts & themes from our lectures, etc.) in your answers. A quality essay response should be somewhere between 4-7 PAGES PER ESSAY.
Due Date: Please submit your exams no later than 11:59 PM Sunday December 13th as a file uploads on Canvas.
NOTE
You are NOT to use any outside resources for this assignment! Your essay response should only draw from the assigned readings and our lecture-discussion notes. This is after all an exam. NOT a research paper.
I am not accepting anything past the due date. We also have deadlines you understand.

– According to historian Mark Mazower, “In its violence and racism, Nazi Germany drew from European precedents in Asia, Africa, and especially the Americas.” Hannah Arendt also saw continuities between the practices of the New Imperialism and 20th Century Europe’s experience with mass violence. Using specific examples from both our lectures and the assigned readings, explain how the ideologies and practices of overseas empire impacted events in Europe.-
– In The Wretched of the Earth, Frantz Fanon outlines a model for revolutionary change in the Third World. Briefly describe the ‘compartmentalized world’ that defines colonial society. Would you describe this form of social relations as ‘totalitarian’ in nature? Why or why not? What role (ideological, psychological, political, tactical, etc.) does violence have in Fanon’s narrative?
