Task
Prepare a critical analysis of Walter Rodney’s “How Europe Underdeveloped Africa”. A well written book analysis is more than just a summary of the content. Rather, it is a critical assessment and interpretation of the book.
Format
Identify and discuss two main arguments advanced by Rodney in each of the chapters. Then, use articles assigned in the course to critically evaluate the arguments of each chapter. Since this is a critical assessment of the book, you must reference at least six (6) course readings that enhance your explanation of the position you have taken regarding the arguments you have identified.
Guidelines
Here are a series of questions to guide your thinking about the assignment:
What is the thesis—or main argument—of the book? If the author wanted you to get one idea from the book, what would it be? How does it compare or contrast to the world you know? What has the book accomplished?
What exactly is the subject or topic of the book? Can you explain how in your view the author covered (or failed to cover) the subject he was writing about? Can you detect any biases?
How does the author of the book support his arguments? What evidence does the author use to prove his points? Do you find that evidence convincing? Why or why not?
Does any of the author’s information [or conclusions] conflict with other books you have read, courses you have taken, or just previous assumptions you had about African Underdevelopment?
How does the author structure his argument? Does the argument make sense to you? Does it persuade you? Why, or why not?
Is this book still relevant today?
Does your reading of the book affect your current understanding/interpretation of the crises of development affect Africa, and its Diaspora communities in the Americas? Please explain.

1. Final Paper should be no less than 6 pages, double spaced in either MLA or APA style.
2. The paper should include a full bibliography.
