Create a personal leadership vision & mission focused on your “primary” leadership style.
Important Note:
Overall, one leadership style is not necessarily better than another. Each has advantages and disadvantages. Leader Self-Awareness and knowledge of the group’s ability and willingness levels are key to strategically using leadership styles.
This assignment involves an analysis of the importance of your leadership approaches(s) to the future of the nursing profession and to your specialty area of concentration. Your final paper should focus on your current and/or future practice of leadership and demonstrate your understanding and use of the concepts and perspectives presented in the readings for this course.
Follow the guidelines below to complete this assignment.
• Review the leadership styles, theories, and perspectives on pages 9-17 of your Leadership and Nursing Management text.
• State your “primary” leadership style.
State your “primary” leadership style, even though your primary style may change or vary at times according to situational elements and factors to consider with reference to the effectiveness of a particular leadership style.
For example, if a nurse prefers to operate in a democratic leadership style yet suddenly a code situation occurs, then the nurse must rapidly switch from a democratic to an authoritarian style.
• Discuss each of the following to describe your vision, mission and approach for your personal leadership style.
Ø The values that are most important for you as a nurse leader. Ø The principles on which you base your leadership.
Ø The ethical boundaries that guide you.
Ø How your leadership will empower others to act.
Ø How you will remain self-aware and keep from losing your way as a leader.
• Your leadership vision & mission paper should:
Ø Be 2-3 pages on content (not including the title and reference pages. Ø Follow APA format; double-spaced, times new roman, etc.
Ø Include accurate grammar and sentence structure
