Post One AGD1:
The Covid-19 pandemic has definitely opened my eyes as to the effects of economic demand and how it affects our community and environment. Many items have been in high demand therefore forcing productions in order to supply the high demand. Prior to this, I had not put much thought to how much money and energy is actually out to supply the things I purchase. When purchasing goods I never thought about where the goods came from or where they would end up, after watching The Story of Stuff with Annie Leonard I learned how much resources are lost in the extraction, production, distribution and disposal of the goods we purchase and consume. The way I was consuming was definitely affecting our ecological health, social equity and economic security. I was consuming goods not being conscious of the harm it causes our community and the amount of natural resources it consumes. As Flint mentions, “All people deserve an equal quality of life, but the truth is that Earth cannot sustain a developed country level of consumption for billions of people.” (Pg. 15) This is why I plan to become more conscious about the goods I purchase. I also plan to educate those around me about the importance of making conscious decisions about consumer purchases.

POST TWO JBD2:
The sustainability model prompts social works to consider all aspects when assessing health and well being. The sustainability models that all three sectors are interconnected; therefore, in order to address and succeed in one we must do so in the others as well. “And the social sector emphasizes “equity,” implying that fairness across the board is an absolute necessity to achieve sustainability” (Flint, 2013). This means that all sectors have a role with each other to obtain sustainability. For example, economic security is a huge stressor for several people who live pay check to paycheck and without this sector of economic security the balance of social equity and the environment you are in are out of balance. This applys to a holistic approach for health in social work because in order to maintain good hea`lth we must have a balance throughout all areas: economic secutiry, social equity, and ecologiclas integrity. The social work field helped clients, organizations, and agencies focus on how to obtain and reach health and well being, but if there is a section that is off balance with the others we must work together to balance it all out. “Once the overlap is identified, acknowledged, and accepted, people can begin working collectively, extending the area of overlap and integration” (Flint, 2013).
