STANDARDS DOCUMENT INSTRUCTIONS
For this assignment, you will choose 1 grade cluster (K–2, 3–5, 6–8, or 9–12) and 1 content area (English, math, science, etc.). Using available resources, you will access the national, state, or other available published standards (ex., National Council for Teachers, of Math, English, etc.) for this grade cluster/subject area and conduct an in-depth analysis of the standards for that grade from 2 of the 3 areas (national, state, or other published standards). You will write a paper in current APA format that discusses, in detail, the similarities and differences in the 2 sets of standards. You will include 1–2 paragraphs describing the community you are creating curriculum for. Your description must include the size of the student body, the demographics of the community, the school’s facilities, the structure of the school program, and the extra-curricular offerings. You will also discuss the strengths and weaknesses of both sets of standards, and consider how a curriculum developer might combine the best standards from each resource to produce an “ideal” curriculum. The paper will be 5–8 pages, not including the title page, abstract, and reference page. The paper must include at least 2 references in addition to the course textbook and the Bible.
Please refer to the Grading Rubric for this assignment.
