In completing this assignment, make sure you are being sociological. To facilitate this, think about various concepts you have learned in this class and integrate ONE of them into your assignment. For example: gender, class, race, ethnicity, subculture, socialization, etc.
Directions:
For this assignment, think about who you are today and how your identity, your aspirations, attitudes and beliefs were shaped by your social environment.
Then, think of one sociological concept that you feel is particularly relevant to who you are today. As you think of your response and try to identify a concept you want to write about, you might consider what social forces made it difficult for you to achieve your dreams, what social forces have created opportunities for you, and how you have responded to various social constraints and opportunities.
1. Define the concept first, using a sociological source*, and cite the source of your definition properly, using the American Sociological Association (ASA) style.
2. Then, apply the concept, using it to describe, illustrate and explain what happened in your life. Be as specific as possible when applying this concept to situations you have experienced.
3. Make sure to include a reference/work cited/bibliography section where you reference the source of your definition properly using the American Sociological Association (ASA) style.
*The easiest source to use to define the concept is our textbook. You may also use another sociological textbook, sociological dictionary or source but do not use non-sociological sources for your definition, such as Wikipedia, English dictionaries, psychological sources, etc.
