In reading the first six chapters of Luke, I have found useful to know that Jesus’ story is in Luke’s perspective. He goes into brief detail about where Jesus came from as well informing the audience that Zachariah is John the Baptist father. These chapters show us that God is always faithful and Mary sets the tone for other generations to believe in God. A good example can be seen in Mary’s song of praise. In her song of praise, Mary gives a description of who God is and the mercy and love he brings to his people. “He has brought down the powerful from their thrones, and lifted up the lowly; he has filled the hungry with good things, and sent the rich away empty” (Lk 1:52-53, New International Version).
When it comes to points of confusion, I would have to say the one thing that stood out to me was when Luke went into the ancestry, it was to many names to follow along. Another point of confusion for me was remembering the old testament and what I learned in Bible 100. I took that class 2 years ago in the beginning of my journey, therefore; I had to brush up on what the previous class was about so I could make a connection. While I do remember learning about the creation, fall, and redemption of God’s people, I do believe the New Testament will help me bring the New and Old Testament together to get a better understanding of God’s story.
