Step 1: Choose an individual who was born before 1990. This individual can be a family member, a teacher, a religious leader, a family friend, etc. Consult with your parent, local teacher, or trusted adult regarding who would be a good individual to approach for this project.
Step 2: Interview this individual to learn more about what life was like with regards to women’s rights and gender equality in one of the following decades: 1960s, 70s, 80s, or 90s. You may want to carry a recorder (video or audio) with you and transcribe the interview later. If you do this, always ask permission first. Record the questions you asked and the response given by the individual.

What was the occupation of the individual?
Was the individual married? Did the spouse work? Did the individual have children while working?
Did the individual earn as much money as females/males in similar positions?
Did society accept the individual working?
Did the individual participate in any social movements or marches?
Did the individual go to college?
Did the individual support NOW and/or the ERA movement? Why or why not?
Did the individual face gender discrimination in the workplace? Give examples.
Step 3: Reflect. After reporting the responses, write 3-5 sentences reflecting on the interviewee’s responses. Link what you have learned in this lesson with their responses. Your reflection should answer this question: How did the interviewee’s responses give you greater insight into the Feminist Movements of the late 20th Century?When you are finished, you will submit the following:
A list of 5-10 questions interview questions and responses from your interviewee.
