4. Including strong transitions between body paragraphs. Strong transitions can only be used to connect your one specific body paragraph to the next body paragraph. Should your transitions be too general, and should they be able to transition essentially from any idea to any other idea, then this is indicative of one of three things: (1) your transitions must be strengthened following the examples in Notes: Transitions; (2) your body paragraphs must be re-organized to more organically implement strong transitions; and/or (3) your focus is too broad, and you are unable to make clear, distinct, building connections between your paragraphs.
5. Avoiding generalizations, hypotheticals, and over-reliance on anecdotal evidence (personal examples and researched testimonials). Your goal is to support your argument with concrete evidence, and to supplement the evidence with fully developed explication: Notes: Sample Supporting Topic with Example & Explication. The limitations to anecdotal evidence are as follows: your essay can have either 0 anecdotal evidence, 1 personal example, 1 researched testimonial, 1 personal example & 1 researched testimonial, or 2 researched testimonials.
6. Avoiding subject/pronoun disagreement. The best solution in combating subject/pronoun disagreement is to change the subject into its plural form to agree with the plural pronoun.
